In Memory of
Civilian BERYL HELEN MEEK

Beryl a 14 year old girl, daughter of Douglas and Phyllis Meek and a Barrs Hill School pupil. Had been playing in an housing estate that been halted to the outbreak of war, when she injured her leg. She was taken to Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital to receive treatment for her minor leg injury.

The hospital was hit 10 times during the raid of the 9th April 1941, making it virtually unusable, unfortunately after the all clear was given a a delayed action bomb that had not been discovered exploded, killing 21 patients and 2 Doctors and Nurses. Beryl was amongst the casualties and died at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital. .

 The family lived in 31 Harewood Road but moved back to Kirby Road.
