Field Marshall Earl Haig

On the 8th October the cenotaph was unveiled by Field Marshal Earl Haig, the ceremony was attended by about 50,000 people. Field Marshal Haig died on the 29th January 1928 and a tablet to his memory was unveiled in the 'Chamber of Silence' on 11th November 1928 and a tree planted by C.L.Hayward of the British legion. Countess Haig visited the Memorial Park on the 27th January 1929
